

Pringles is a potato and wheat based stackable snack chip operating in the savory snack market.
The original owner of Pringles was Proctor & Gamble (P&G), and at present is operated under the hands of Kellogg Company, which resulted due to a takeover in 2012, for $2.7 billion (£1.7bn).
It was first launched to the market in October 1968 under the name of “Pringles Newfangled Potato Chips”. According to P&G, a brand manager broke out the Cincinnati phone book and made a list of street names that began with the letter “P”. The company liked the ring of Pringle Drive in suburban Finney town, OH, and since the word was available as a trademark, the chips found their name. However with the national expansion the name was shortened to “PRINGLES”. According to the patent, Pringles was invented by a researcher of P & G, Alexander Lipea of Montgomery, Ohio in the mid 1960s. Chemist Fredric Baur created the packaging which is the Pringles cans. Gene wolf a mechanical engineer invented the machines in which Pringles are made into the unique hyperbolic parabolic shape.(P&G)
Pringles which only operated in USA diversified its distribution channels and at present is available for sale in more than 140 countries all around the world in more than 45 flavors. Currently the potato chip or "crisps" snack is produced in North America Jackson Tennessee and Mechelen in Belgium. Other local investment lines in Johor in Malaysia ,Fujian in China and Brazil.
Pringles is said to be a highly profit generating business. This is very well explicated by the sales revenue received through Pringles, which is over $1.5b per year. (Kellogg Annual Report,2012)
